About The Artist: Mike Juggins, UK

Artist Mike Juggins is a community artist, filmmaker and educator based in Devon, UK. He studied Fine art at UWE in Bristol, graduating with a BA Honours - Art in a Social Context, in 1999. Being a dyslexic himself, Mike has a greater understanding and appreciation for the dyslexics, their strengths and weaknesses. He chose to focus on the ability rather than the disability of this disadvantaged group through his creative works.

Mike has lectured internationally on the issue of dyslexia and has a positive outlook on the subject. His written and illustration work about dyslexia has been published widely and his inclusive film work shown across the globe, including the London DisABILITY film festival and Chan 4.

However, Mike’s first love is painting. Recently, he exhibited his paintings at the Tate Modern London and Buckfast Abbey Devon. He also held his first Solo Art Exhibition in Singapore, at The Arts House, in November 2013.

Being a dyslexic himself, Mike has a greater understanding and appreciation for the dyslexics, their strengths and weaknesses. He chose to focus on the ability of this disadvantaged group to help them excel in their artistic inclination and be a contributor of our society.

Item Description

Playing with birds, bottles, arches and warm colours. A cup of temptation does not drawer the bird to face the centre. It remains resolutely determined not to taste the liquid within.
